Goodbye Twenty-Twenty, Hello Twenty-Twenty-One/TTOT

Twenty-Twenty is in the books...hello twenty-twenty-one! Ten Things of Thankful has continued to be uplifting and a warm welcome each week when I see the posts. I read most of them and comment on a few from time to time. For the last several months, I did not share any posts myself as I was covered up with Christmas crafting projects since the middle of September. Here are the covers of some of the Projects I worked on since September 2020.

As you see, I was busy - busy making journals. I am thankful I was able to get back into my craft room and create from my heart beautiful gifts for others. I find so much joy in crafting...it is my respite.

I had many things I was thankful for in twenty-twenty. Number 10, which probably should be my number 1 every time is LIFE. Many times, people take life for granted. I do not...God has blessed me with breath daily and for that, I am very thankful. I should be dead ten times over from this health issue or that health issue or this traumatic event or that traumatic event...but I am not. I am VERY much alive!

For Number 9, I am thankful that none of my immediate family (apart from myself) had COVID. Although I have many cousins and other extended friends and family who lost loved ones to the horrific illness. I am sorry for your loss if it affected your loved ones...know you are in my thoughts and prayers. On a side note, my sister texted me earlier this evening to tell me she was headed to Urgent Care. She tested positive for COVID. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers...

Number 8, I am thankful for a roof over my head and food on the table. So far, my husband has been able to work each day since COVID hit. For that, I am thankful...this is his work truck. It is called a Volumetric Cement truck. What that means is, he mixes on site instead of having the tumbler like most other cement trucks. He has worked with H & H Concrete on Demand for a total of 9 years. He had this job before we moved relocated to the Round Rock, Texas area in 2013 for my job. When we had the opportunity to move back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area at the end of 2015, he went back to this employer. (I suppose he likes working here!) LOL

I truly am thankful for so many things in life. Breath, friends, and family to mention a few. Over the last several years, I have had the opportunity of meeting new family members because of "walking with the ancestors" through genealogy. Twenty-twenty was no different. My Number 7 expresses gratitude for meeting new cousins and friends along the way. Our very own Dyanne Vinyard Dillon, host of Ten Things of Thankful fell into this number 7 thankfulness. I had the opportunity of meeting her in person during October on our way to Illinois. Although our time was short...it was amazing finally getting to meet this beautiful lady. Thank you again, Dyanne, for driving over to meet up with us in Springfield, MO. Until we meet again...

For many people, family is everything...I must say, there are times I do not share this same sentiment with folks. My family has been my nemesis and thorn in my side for most of my life. Do not get me wrong, I love my family very much. But wait...there is a BUT! My family has hurt me, stabbed me in the back, walked out of my life, said hurtful, mean words to me, and has shattered my heart through and through.

I know through the years, I caused hurt and said hurtful things, but I always asked for forgiveness once tempers settled down. With forgiveness, comes remorse...I wish I could say - I have felt the same from my family. But that has not been the case...Number 6 for me through twenty-twenty-one is, I want a change of heart where all my family is concerned. Although I have forgiven those who have hurt me in the past...I want to be able to move past the heartache that I feel daily because of the loss of so many people who still live and breathe today. I do not dwell on the pain anymore, thank goodness! I have learned to accept that we all make choices, and we are all at the age to be responsible for them. I have laid all this pain at the foot of the Cross and pray one day there will be amends before it is too late. I am thankful that Jesus Christ gives us all second chances and never holds anything over our heads. I just wished human beings were somewhat the same...tsk, tsk, tsk. Nonetheless, I am thankful for family...

I am thankful for Number 5 which is Jesus Christ being my personal Savior. Honestly, this is my number 1 - 10 and then some...without Him, I would be lost. I am thankful for His forgiveness and His love.

Number 4, I am thankful for each one of YOU!

My Number 3 spot is music. I am thankful for the sound of music in my life. I enjoy watching my grandson, Caiden who is 10 months old when music comes on. He moves his little body, waves his hands in the air and he and I share a few favorite tunes from one of his toys. I must say, he and Nonnie like to dance...I hope as he grows older, that maybe he will want to play a musical instrument of some kind. It would make my heart jump up and down with joy if that instrument was a violin. I was an accomplished violinist back in the day. My mom and dad always wanted me to play for them anytime we went to Amarillo for a visit... The first picture here was from a wedding I played at during my Freshman year in High School. The second photo was taken in 2000 when we had travelled from Illinois to Amarillo to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. (They and my niece are pictured in the photo).

I am thankful for having the opportunity of being a part of this wonderful group of people in Ten Things of Thankful. That is my Number 2

NUMBER 1, I am very thankful for my three grandsons. My oldest one turned 16 on December 27th. I have not seen him in almost two years. His name is Noah. Then there is Isaiah...he turned 7 in September and I have not seen him since his first birthday. Caiden is my youngest grandson. He is 10 months old...I am thankful to have him in my life. I call him 'my handsome'. Regardless of the choices and the curveballs life has thrown our way, I love all three of my grandsons very much! I smile and my heart flutters everytime I see a photo of each.

Here we are...January 1st...I bid you farewell twenty-twenty, hello twenty-twenty-one...I hope and pray twenty-twenty-one turns out better than the last twelve months. Can I get a second?

Until next time...thank you for reading and I look forward to reading your comments.

  2. Oh, journals, how cool! I love crafting too, although I don't do it that often anymore.

You have an amazing gratitude list. I am so grateful for life too.

I'll be praying for your sister. Hope she gets well soon.

    1. Hi Astrid,

Thank you for stopping by reading my blog and dropping me a comment. Very appreciative!

Yes, I love papercrafting. I find it to be very therapeutic. Although I must say, since 2018 -- I have struggled with finding joy in it and the fact that I was able to knock out these journals this last year was an accomplishment. (Life got in the way back in 2018 and I let it steal what I loved to do)...I'm desperately trying to get back to my 'happy place' and love for the creativity, daily.

Thank you for your prayers with regard to my sister.

So many people take life for granted...I just shake my head at times. For me, I take it very serious...and my kids think I'm 'old school' for doing so! LOL

Maybe one day, they will understand.

      Until we meet again.

      Have an amazing week!

  3. This is a wonderful list, Nancy.
So sorry to hear that you sister has COVID. I hope she has a light case and heals quickly and that you don't get it again (I don't even know if people can get it the same strain more than once.)
Totally agree with #5 being 1 -10 and then some.

    1. Hi Pat...Happy New Year!!!!

Yes, she has been through the ringer the last couple of months and now this. She thought it was a sinus infection and an absessed tooth - ONLY to learn it was COVID! ouch!!! trust me, I am staying plum away from them. They came through Dallas a couple of weeks ago for one of her specialist appointments and we were supposed to have met so I could pass off the journals I made for her family (mom's memory ones) - -their Mimi...but at the last moment, I decided it wouldn't be to my best interest with my health so up and down...boy am I glad I did!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and always dropping an uplifting comment afterwards. I truly appreciate it.

I'm finishing up the last journal that was purchased - over 200 pages (front and back), lots of lace, photo mats and inspiration in this one. Then I'll be hitting genealogy for awhile...want to get back to working on my binders for each set of grandparents and great grandparents. I hope to blog those steps...maybe that will definitely get me back into it. I'm still trying to figure out my niche there.

I suppose if I just stayed in my lane of crafting and genealogy with life experiences, I would be okay. LOL

ONLY Jesus Christ is the reason I still live and breathe and I don't take any of that for granted, ever.

Have a wonderful week - and looking forward to visiting with you again soon on FB.

  4. Welcome (back) to the TToT!

    Excellent post.*
One of the interesting things I've noticed is how often there is a meeting among/between participants out in the 'real' world. Over the years since this 'hop has been around I believe I've met five, maybe six people involved in the TToT** so I guess thats a lot.
    Have a great week.

*one of the things I enjoy the most about this group is how, while the theme is gratitude, creativity is supported (if not reinforced). Playing with 'presentation' is one of things that is just plain fun.
** at the beginning of this blog there were 10 hosts!

    1. hi Clark!!!

As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog and dropping me a comment. I always enjoy reading what you share...

Oh yes, through my genealogy journeys - I have had the amazing opportunity of meeting 5th generation cousins and I love it! I even met a cousin from the my 10th great grandparent line by happenstance one weekend at a conference. That was so cool and we still hang out together. He loves visiting cemeteries and so do I, so that's our normal thing to do...(my family doesn't like them much. Cemeteries that is). LOL

10 hosts - - wow!!!! I want to move my blog over to Wordpress, but have not been successful in finding a VA who can assist me with that feat...maybe this year, it will happen!

Until we meet again. I hope you have a wonderful week!

  5. I made your beautiful list! THANK YOU! It was wonderful getting to meet, eating ice cream and talking and laughing! Your journals are amazing, as always. Glad you felt well enough to work on them. I'm glad to hear you are working towards healing from the hurt you received from your family, and I wish you the very best with that. I'm so happy you joined us this week and hope you will link up with the TToT more often in 2021!

    1. Hi Dyanne...!!! Yes you did! LOL - I look forward to the day we can meet again for a longer period of time. (Definitely want to make Branson one of these days). I also have other cousins that live in that area as well...so who knows, I may just come by myself and make a month or so of it! LOL

Thank you for the accolades with my crafting...also, do you know when A-Z is starting back up? I'm going to try my darndest to get back to blogging on a regular basis in hopes of building my followers - blogger hasn't helped though. I lost all of my affiliates because of using it and 'not' having the followers.

Guess I need to hone my skill and figure out which niche I want to do. I know crafting/genealogy and life experience...I figure this is what I know! LOL - - any ideas/thoughts or suggestions?

Are you back to work fulltime? You are doing a wonderful job as Host of TTOT!!! Keep up the great work!

Until we meet again, happy blogging!

  6. Hi, it is nice to meet you through Pitstop. Your journals are lovely. My daughter lives in Lewsiville. I hope 2021 brings you good things and forgiveness in your family. I know how tough that can be.

  7. hello Michele!

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to drop me a comment. I lived in Lewisville from 2000 - 2013. Then relocated for my job to the Austin area, before we came back to DFW in 2015. Glad to be back in the DFW area...

    Have a wonderful day...
