Day 8 Color of the Day is Purple

IIt is already the 8th day of June; can you believe it? Where is the time going these days? Before we know it, it will be July. I would have thought time would have stood still with the pandemic and all - but it has not. I guess since there are still 24 hours in a day and 30 to 31 days in a month - time will continue to escape me. Anyway...back to the blog of the hour. The Color of the Day ChallengePURPLE is the color and it is the topic on my mind today.

My friend and mentor, Glenda Cates with The Mommies Review created the Color of the Day Challenge for June. It was birthed by an activity she did with her son, Charlie who homeschools.

What a neat idea it is turning a school assignment into a challenge. Hats off to both for doing so and inviting me to participate in the challenge. It has been fun looking for things in the daily color schemes around my house or even in town when I get out and about. PURPLE is the color of the day.

For Mother's Day this year, I made a Folio Journal honoring the memory of my mom who died on 2/28/2020. Her favorite color was...PURPLE. I made the Folio in different shades of purple. The paper line I used was Prima Marketing Ink., and it was called, Lavender.

Inside of the beautifully crafted Folio, I placed many different photographs of my mom during her life. This will be cherished by my family for generations to come. (these pictures were taken upon completion of the Folio - photos were not incorporated yet).

In order to preserve some of the photos I used inside of the Folio, I placed them in photo sleeves then adhered them to the different pages. I made the sleeves where they could be moved back and forth when there was writing on the back of the photos.

I enjoy crafting and using many different colors in my projects. I have not made many things in purple though. This Folio turned out beautiful. I am looking forward to making the next one as it will be done in Peach and Mint Green. I will post pictures when it is completed.

A few years back, I made paper strip trees like this one shown here. I made these for several of my friends in their favorite colors. This one shown has many different shades of pink (if you look closely, you will see a few purple strips in this tree though). I made one in purple, green, yellow, and one in black and white.

Purple is the color of the day. What do you see that is purple? Snap those pictures and leave me a comment. I look forward to hearing from you!

  1. What a beautiful folio journal! I love how you closed it with a lace ribbon, so delicate.
