Life, Breath and Just Being - TTOT

Today is the birthday of Ten Things of Thankful. I was invited to this group by Dyanne who I met while participating in the A - Z Challenge a couple of months ago. I always say, God brings people to our paths in the right timing, and meeting Dyanne was no exception.

Along the paths of blogging, I have met some wonderful people. Ten Things of Thankful has blessed me so much since I joined their blog hop. I have enjoyed reading other posts of the things they are thankful for during the week. I too have had comments left on my posts.

Happy Birthday Ten Things of Thankful...I hope to be a part of this journey for years to come.

Life, Breath, and Just Being are three of the things I am thankful for today. Each of them can stand alone - but at the same time, they need the other to accentuate the next.

Without breath, we would not have life. Without life, we would not be. When I have been in dark times, I cannot do anything but just be. This is when I reflect on life. This is when I take those nice slow breaths...

Today, I am also thankful for my health. I have been extremely sick since the middle of February and finally, I am feeling much better. I still have some healing to do, but each day I am becoming stronger. That is a good thing!

I am thankful that my weight has finally started to drop. Through this illness I mentioned above, I have been on massive amounts of steroids. The scales were slowly creeping upwards to numbers I am embarrassed to even say out loud. When I weighed myself this morning, I have dropped almost 15 pounds since last week. I noticed the shorts I have on today seem to lose around the waistline. This is a good thing!!! Some of this weight gain was water retention. The doctors have had me on several different diuretics, but I have not noticed the difference until today. Daily the scales were telling me a different story. I am doing the happy dance - not literally though as I tweaked my back on Monday while watching my grandson and I cannot hardly move right now...but in my mind, I am dancing!

I am thankful for the opportunity of participating in other blog challenges. Currently, I am doing The Color of the Day. It is hosted by The Mommies Review/Glenda Cates. If you are friends with me, you will see that I have been posting the daily prompts. Many of my friends have been playing along. It is exciting to see what others come up with each day. Very soon, I will participate in the Ultimate Blog Challenge (UBC). It is held every couple of months. It was the very first blog challenge I ever participated in.

Family is always something to be thankful for. I have been hurt many times by my family. I have hurt them. I have learned through the years how to forgive my family. I am thankful for forgiveness. I just wished others would learn the meaning of the word.

I am thankful for friends I have met along the way. They have been my constant. I have several friends I call my BFF's.

Several months ago, I created a small space in the front yard to create a flower garden in memory of my mom. The flowers have started blooming. They are beautiful. I am thankful for their beauty. They smell amazing too.

Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity of genealogy. I have met some amazing new family members on my journey of walking with the ancestors. Being able to connect with them through Social Media and the telephone has been wonderful. I have had the opportunity of seeing many photos of great grandparents that otherwise would have never been found. The stories that I have learned as well have been priceless! In fact, I have learned through the TToT - I connect with several distant cousins here in the group. How cool is that!?

Until next time...

    1. hi Lizzi!

Thanks for commenting. Yes, meeting new family regardless if they are near or far (1st or 5th/distant cousins) it always brings a smile to my face.

I think mom would have liked them too.

  3. Oh, I can just smell those flowers. They are so pretty.
I am glad that you discovered how to be able to forgive. It is such a healing thing to be able to do.
Some people create private FB groups where they share info and photos about their shared ancestor and descendants. Someone who shares DNA with me invited me to his private Martin group. (As it turns out our DNA connection is through another surname.) My husband created a private FB group consisting of cousins and aunts and uncles to help identify people in some old family photos we have.

    1. hi Pat!
Thanks for reading and commenting. The flowers are gorgeous...yes, I learned a very long time ago the power of forgiveness when others told me to keep on walking.

Yes, I too am in a Martin group on FB. is that the Daniel Martin one by chance? I have several cousins groups set up for my family and my husband's family so cousins can shared and connect. It all has been a very fun journey!

By chance, is your family tree on Ancestry and if so - would you mind giving me the name of it? I'd love to see if we share any common ancestors.

That is awesome that you are all able to share the photos. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find family photos on my mom's maternal and paternal lines -seems they are all locked away and very hard to come by.

      Maybe one day...

  4. I tried to post, but apparently it didn’t, so I will try this again.
I can almost smell those flowers. They are so beautiful.
Being able to learn how to forgive can be so healing to oneself, as well as to the ones being forgiven if they even know of the offense and own up to it. But one’s own peace and happiness doesn’t need to be put on hold waiting for that day when someone asks for forgiveness.
Connecting with others who share a common ancestor with you leads to exciting new discovers.

  7. You've connected with cousins through this? That's amazing. I'm glad you're feeling better from your illness finally and that you're getting rid of some of the water weight gained through steriods. Nice to meet you and so glad you joned TToT. Dyanne is awesome - I agree.

    1. Hi Kristi!

Yes, several distant cousins. I'm always looking to make new family connections. I'm one of those people who troll FB for the possibilities when I have a connection by way of DNA matches. LOL I'm not alone in this endeavor - but these days, people making their profiles private seem to be hard to get around because of fear of being scammed or hacked. I try to give a head's up someway or another when I'm going to make a connection.

It is nice meeting you too!!!!
