P is for Painted Papers
Painted Paper Flowers by Hannah R. (my daughter), 2005 |
P is for PAINTED PAPERS. Have you ever painted paper? I hadn't until I participated in a swap several years ago. A person doesn't have to know the technique or even be an artist or crafter to paint papers. I found it to be very calming and it was so easy a child could do it.
I find crafting to be very therapeutic and what a GREAT stress reliever - paint papers!!!
Grab a few paintbrushes, any kind of paper, some paint, water and relieve that stress. A person could be very meticulous in what they paint, and others could just let the paper and the brush flow. That's what I do. When I'm painting papers, I don't think about what I'm painting. I just stroke the brush against the paper and let it decide for itself. Like this one...
Painted paper I did 2 years ago |
I painted the paper blue first, then went back with the yellow. This is what I go...I found it spoke to me so I left it alone.
Remember my post with the letter N? I walked you through a step by step canvas with mixed media and napkins. The leftover paint I had on the paper plate from that post made these painted papers.
In some of the papers I can see the beginnings of flowers, can you? All I did was lay a piece of paper on the paper plate and pressed my hand against it. Waaaalalalalah! PAINTED PAPERS!
I don't know what I'll use these papers for, but for now, I have them stored in the organizer with the rest of my painted papers. (I'll probably use them in journals, make cards with them or even use them on mixed media projects). Who knows...I don't at this point.
I never turn my crafting head off. If I'm working on one thing, I always end up with something else after the fact, like these papers. My intention was to throw the paper plate away and the more I looked it, I just couldn't bring myself to do so without saving more of the paint. Do any of you find yourself with that dilemma? Sometimes it can be a good thing and other times, I tell myself NO - do not do it! LOL
The next time you are bored or want a project to do with the kids, grab those paintbrushes and start creating your masterpiece. Who knows, you might just be the next Rembrandt!
PAINTED PAPERS...
Sounds easy to do! Love the flowers painted by your daughter!

Lia loves to paint and some of her doddles look like little birds. We'll have to pull the paint and brushes out this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove these painted papers. I've only tried it once with some watercolor crayons. I'm going to have to try this too. Visiting from the A to Z gang.

I've never painted entire papers but I've accented paper with paint on occasion for some of my scrapbook projects. I can see where it would be a fun, relaxing craft project. Weekends In Maine
ReplyDeleteMy painting skills are weak. I don't think I would find it relaxing!
