Day 29- A Song I Remember From My Childhood

We are coming to an end on the Song Challenge hosted by The Mommies Review/Glenda Cates.

The song I chose from my childhood is one from the group called The Monkees, Daydream Believer.

I remember sitting in front of the television set and watching The Monkees sing as they played their different instruments. This was back in the day during 1966 - 1968. I was just a little girl.

According to Wikipedia, The Monkees show started out being about being an imaginary band. They wanted to be the Beatles. They were never successful, but the television show was. It helped The Monkees become one of the most successful bands in the 60s.

The Monkees sold over 75 million records worldwide making them one of the biggest selling groups of all time. Their records included international hits like, "Last Train to Clarksville", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", "Daydream Believer", and "I'm a Believer".

The original line-up of The Monkees consisted of the American actor/musicians Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork with English actor/singer Davy Jones The group was conceived in 1965 by television producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider.

Thinking back to this group and setting in front of the television week after week just to see heartthrob Davy Jones sing - a smile comes to my face. This guy could sing to me day in and day out. Heck, what did I know I was only a little girl...but he definitely made me smile.

I can't tell you what it is about the song Daydream Believer that stuck with me all these years but whatever it is...I suppose it mattered. After all, the song is talking about being the person you are in order for things to look up. Be hopeful. Be Mindful. Reach for the Stars...don't ever let anyone or anything stop you from dreaming.
